Great Waiters Race 2014
The International Waiters Race (IGWR)
Steeped in tradition, Perth hosted its very first International Great Waiters Race in 2014, joining a long list of cities worldwide that have hosted this event, which pays tribute to the city’s waiters. This exceptional event is organised by the Rotary Club of West Perth with the aim to raise funds for local Charities. The inaugural Perth IGWR was held at Claisebrook cove on the Swan river in East Perth.
After a successful and enjoyable event in 2014, planning is now underway for an even BIGGER and better race postponed until later this year! Check out our plans for the Race, Village, and Golf Ball Drop!
2014 saw over 60 Waiters for Perth restaurants and hotels competing for a trip to France. For 2015, we are taking on the feedback provided. We will be holding separate male and female races, asking waiters to seek sponsorship for their efforts, all proceeds going to the nominated charities (a prize will be awarded to the most sponsored waiter)
We are also seeking a major sponsor for the event.
As 2014 has been the 20th Anniversary of the International Year of the Family, we have elected to support ‘family oriented’ charities with our next event.
Ngala is one of WA’s longest running charities which “is a provider of Early Parenting and Early Childhood services with a passion for supporting and guiding families and young children through the journey of parenting.”
Kalparrin “helps families of children with disabilities and special needs to carry their load by providing practical information and support, and connecting them with the services that they need.”
