Guest Speaker

Our Guest Speaker this week was our member Nathan Blockley and his friend & Business Partner and fellow Black belt in Karate Mitchell Durham speaking about their not for profit business venture "Kaizen Culture". Mitchell is also the Captain of the Australian Karate Team.
Kaizen Culture is an amazing achievement by them both bringing together the Karate Community of Australia and the World via communication, organisation, photography and their website, www.kaizenculture.org

The following is a summary from the Kaizen Culture website:

Kaizen Culture is an ASIC Registered, Non-for-Profit Company, committed to empowering and inspiring the Australian karate community through support and information. We firmly believe in the power of information and visualisation to help athletes at all levels succeed in sports karate. We are a dependable resource for associations, clubs, parents, and athletes alike; bringing the world of national and international karate to the local level.

Embracing the Kaizen philosophy of continuous self improvement, we offer a variety of initiatives that the karate community can take advantage of.

Operating exclusively within the competition karate space we:

  • Showcase national and international events through social media.
  • Provide a platform for the voice of past and current athletes.
  • Deliver projects that provide experience-based and/or financial benefits to the community.

We believe that the services we have provided - and continue to provide - fuel inspiration and promote engagement within the Australian karate community.

2 Minute Noodle
Please remember that 2 minute Noodles are meant to be 2 minutes, not 10 minutes, it is important for the flow of the meeting that they are no longer than 4 minutes maximum please.

This week the 2 minute noodle was given by Dennis Hartley on his recent trip to Europe cruising down 3 rivers.

Announcements

President Tony announced that quite a few members of the Club attended the recent Funeral of Helen Hollingshead.

President Tony also announced that the Club has endorsed a lamington drive in West Perth for fundraising and a way of attracting new members.

Geoff Woods asked members to consider inviting prospective new members as Guest Speakers. The idea being that if they have an interesting topic to speak to the Club about, it gets their foot in the door and we can then invite them to be members of the Club. Pat is to set aside space in the Guest Speaker program for a prospective new member/guest speaker each month. Now it is up to us all to think outside the square and find these prospective members.

Don't forget our new venue CU29 Restaurant and Bar is $31 per head

1275 Hay Street West Perth (old ANZ Bank location).

President Tony's Parting Thought for the week

"No Act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted".   Aesop
