Breakfast 5th September - the life of Rotarian Neville Clare

On Thursday 5 September on the day he celebrated his 80th birthday, we heard from fellow West Perth member Neville Clare. As a member at our club since 1997, Neville was born in Suffolk, England where her grew up with his mother, father and sister. Neville completed a carpentry trade and being a man of many talents, he joined a band the Satellites at a young age where he played the guitar for many years.

Neville met his future wife Jackie when she only was sixteen. They later got married and moved to Canada where they started their family in 1964 with the birth of their first son, Stephen. Their family grew quickly with second son David in 1966 and soon after third son Jason.

Neville joined the Jaycees during his years in Canada and very soon became the Chairman. He is still currently involved in Jaycees and is heading back over to Canada this week where he will visit many of his long standing friends.

Due to a health condition of one of their sons, their family relocated to Australia given the great climate. It was also a great opportunity to be closer to Jackie's sister. In 1981 they built their own home  - with the fab addition of a pub in the basement!!! Neville worked in the granite and marble industry for many years and went on to project manage a number of large projects around Perth.

Neville loves being a member of the Rotary family and we wish him and Jackie a safe a wonderful trip back to Canada over the next few weeks.

Greenbatch Inc - proudly supported by West Perth Rotary Club
Most of our members will know that in 2018 our Club supported the Greenbatch Foundation with some seed funding to get their recycling facility underway.

Greenbatch is working towards building Western Australia's first plastic recycling facility as there are currently no plastic recycling facilities in WA.

Their intention is to purchase the locally processed and sorted PET and HDPE plastics that are sorted from your co-mingled yellow lidded bin, once the local waste processors have collected it from the kerbside.

GreenBatch will then take the PET and HDPE plastic, processing and recycling turning it into 3D printer filament, as one example. This will reduce the sale of plastics to overseas markets keeping our waste in Australia, supporting local industry and creating jobs

Greenbatch have a number of drop off days monthly and this can be seen on their website and Facebook page.
Thanks for all the support!
On behalf of all those living with Muscular Dystrophy, a big thanks through Hayley for your donations to her fundraising campaign for the Dwellingup100 mountain bike event on Saturday 7th September.

Participating with her youngest son Lewis, to date Hayley has raised $6,660 which has helped the MDWA tally to increase to nearly $39,000 so far for this event.

Many of West Perth Rotary Club members donated to the cause and MDWA are forever grateful for the ongoing support.

Watch this movie and contribute to ending polio!
