President Kym requested the following summary be attached to this weeks Bulletin

Extension Clubs Summary by John Stockbridge from Southern Districts Rotary Club (SDRC) 10 February 2026
  1. An Extension Club (EC) is a separate Club Committee with its own Director that sits on the Board.
  2. An EC meets monthly only and usually meets at a different Pub each month as selected by the members of the EC.
  3. John said that on average most EC members have only lasted about 18 months.
  4. The membership fees paid by EC members is $250 pa.
  5.  SDRC do Bunnings sausage sizzles for fundraising to subsidise Club fees.
  6. Each SDRC Committee is allocated $16,000 pa to spend.
  7. Most EC members are under 40 years of age and want to network with other members in business.
  8.  Finally, the EC members don’t want older members to run the EC as they don’t want to hear ancient history.
Geoff Woods comments after recording the above:
  1. We should only start an EC if we have 6 or more people who like the concept and do not want to be a full member.
  2. The EC leader should only be a current full member in business younger that 60 who is not on our future succession planning for a potential President, we don’t want to sacrifice a future younger President for an EC.
  3. It is preferable for the EC Leader/Director to be an EC member that does not want to be a full member so the EC runs itself.
