The Rotary Club of
West Perth

Message from the President

Sometimes, we do not notice the learning opportunity when it comes up – or we don’t feel ready to deal with it, and that is of course all right.  The universe will recycle it and give us as many chances at it as we need.

Each time it resurfaces however, it does so with more force to get our attention.  In our denial and resistance, we may experience this recycling as an attack or failure.  It is anything but.  It is our inner being, and our connection to all that is giving us every opportunity to heal.  The fact that it is making itself known is an indicator of how strong and aware we have become and that we have whatever we need to hear, see and learn.

And if we miss it, don’t worry, it will come up again….

Yours in Rotary Service,

Stephen
President 2020-21

Guest Speaker overview:

Alex Mofflin was nominated to attend RYLA by his boss Stephen Lee. Alex shared with the members a recount of his experience at the RYLA course and provided an overview their daily activities in an amusing way.

These activities included:
An icebreaker exercise, Identifying personality types - 4 colour types, Meditation
Orienteering, Building rapport with people, Challenges such as a high ropes course and a cross-country hike, Leadership Activities, Public Speaking, Mental Health and Project Planning. Alex noted that for him he found the greatest personal benefits :
  • He found meditation of great value as still doing it
  • Met some great new friend
  • Leadership skills
  • 4 colour personality groups which has helped him deal with different people
  • The ability to share his aboriginal culture with others
It was wonderful to hear first hand from one of our RYLA recipients and to see the enormous benefit this program delivers across WA. Tina gave the vote of thanks.
